Dr. Ida Oberman - Executive Director & Founder

Executive Director Dr. Oberman is founder of Community School.  She planned for over ten years and since 2008 worked closely with Oakland Community Organizations (www.oaklandcommunity.org) and a growing body of parents, educators, community leaders and public officials in its execution to launch.  

Since its 2011 founding,  Dr. Oberman has raised just over $1 million for the school from committed funders and individuals and built and extended networks  for this first-of-its-kind urban public Waldorf initiative at the local, state, national and international level with partners  ranging from  Alliance for Public Waldorf Education, Envision Learnig Partners's Bay Area Performance Network, BELL Learning and Alameda County Food Bank.  In addition, each year she guides a group to present at the National American Education Research Assocaiton  Annual Meeting on the school's cutting edge work.

 

Principal Monique Brinson

Principal Brinson brings 9 years experience as Oakland princpal and 15 years aceperience in administartion along with 10 years experience as founding teacher.  An athlete and artist as well as academic and community leader, Princpal Brinson is multi-cultural and mutli-lingual and passioante about strenthening and extending our Public Urban Waldorf Model as leader of the country's first urban public Waldorf School.

Gina Stiens,  Dean of School Culture

Gina was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio and lived many years in Louisville, Kentucky. She comes to CSCE with a background in Social Work, Women’s Studies, and Child Development. Gina completed her Masters in Social Work in 2006 and worked for several years with children with developmental disabilities and their families. In addition to Social Work and Child Development, Gina has training in Positive Behavior Intervention Systems (PBIS), Restorative Justice, Social/Cultural Competency, Social Justice, and Equity. At the start of our school, she started as a volunteer in her good friend, Delana Hill’s classroom. After working on year as a Special Education Aide, Gina became our Dean of School Culture in 2015. She works tirelessly to support our children to be successful in the classroom and in life. Gina values the growing relationships with parents and families, supporting teachers and staff, and is committed to the mission of the Community School for Creative Education.

 

Yolanda Cordova, Office Manager

Ms. Yolanda Cordova brings a bright smile and professionalism to our front office.  As office manager, she is your go-to source for many of the questions you may have and is often the first face your children will see. Ms. Yolanda brings a level of dedication to CSCE and is an assett to our administrative team with her insight. Ms. Yolanda is also a dedicated mother who is always looking to go on a new adventure with her boys. 

 

Barbara, Rojas-Jimon Office Assistant

Ms Barbara Rojas-Jimon is Community School's Office Assistant.  Ms. Rojas-Jimon, a graduate from our neighbor Fremont High School,  works closely with Ms Cordova to support our families and staff.  She supports many of our educational programs to help kids get a step up so that they can be successful.
